The languages within the MENA and the D-A-CH regions are completely different. This means that both regions have two completely different ways of perceiving and accessing information. As a result, texts and visual information in layouts have to be re-structured and localized according to the way people in each region process information. Our translators are experts in this field.

Layout Optimization for the Languages of the MENA Region

When translating texts in certain layouts into other languages, a layout adaptation is often needed. This is especially applicable to the languages of the MENA region, which have 4 unique features that differ from most other languages:

Text expansion: The length of the translated text (i.e., the amount of space it takes up) differs significantly from the source language.

Writing directions: MENA languages are written right-to-left.

Bidirectionality: Words are read from right to left, numbers from left to right.

Foreign characters and special characters: Differences in character size and spacing may require changes in design.

Necessary adjustments go beyond the text

In many cases, it is not enough to simply adapt the design of the document; the content itself may also be affected. For example, sequences of images or illustrations that are used to explain steps or processes must be reversed to reflect the writing direction. In this case, tables and diagrams are also displayed as mirror images.

In the case of software, websites, and display text, buttons, menus, messages, and dialogs or the entire GUI are also mirrored if the writing direction differs. In addition, special attention must be paid to text expansion (the length of the translation compared to the original text). Certain fields or buttons may need to be resized to display their content correctly and maintain usability.

Upon request, our design experts will check the layout of your localized media. If the original design needs to be adjusted for cultural or technical reasons, you will be informed of the necessary adjustments.

You will then receive the translation in a carefully prepared layout that matches the original design as closely as possible. Corporate identity, brand look, and recognizability are therefore retained.
